Humitech Bayside

How It Works

A simple way to keep cold storage cleaner, drier, and more stable

Humitech Bayside filters use a natural, highly porous mineral (often called sorbite) placed inside your cool rooms, display cabinets, and prep fridges. As air circulates, the filter adsorbs ethylene gas, odours, and excess moisture—the main drivers of ripening, surface spoilage, and fogging. The result is steadier cabinet conditions: fruit and veg stay firm and colourful, proteins present better, and case doors clear faster after openings.

Because the system is passive and power-free, there’s no wiring, no plumbing, and no controller changes. Units simply sit in the airflow and are rotated monthly. Most sites notice cleaner smell, less day-to-day waste, and smoother temperature recovery through service—without changing equipment or routines.

Sorbite

What’s inside the filter?

  • Natural mineral: A food-safe, porous mineral (sorbite) with a huge internal surface area.
  • Targeted adsorption: Ethylene and volatile odour compounds bind to the filter surface.
  • Moisture moderation: The filter buffers excess humidity peaks inside the cabinet air.

No fragrances, no gels, no sprays—just a passive mineral doing quiet work 24/7.

What changes inside your fridge?

  • Humidity stabilises: Less “wet” air means crisper leaves, firmer berries, and better slice quality for deli items.
  • Odours drop: Reduced cross-smell between produce, dairy, seafood and meat.
  • Faster recovery: Doors fog less and temperatures settle quicker after busy door-opens.
  • Kinder to equipment: With less moisture load, coils ice up less and defrosts are gentler.
Butchers meat case

Where it works best

  • Walk-in cool rooms in kitchens, florists, grocers, hospitals, and aged care.
  • Display cabinets for butchers, delis, fishmongers, cafés, and supermarket produce.
  • Prep fridges and under-bench units that see frequent door-opens.

For medicine/vaccine refrigerators, follow your clinical policy—our system is intended for foodservice and general refrigeration unless otherwise approved.

Installation (no tools, no downtime)

  1. Filter placement: Filters are placed inside the cool room and under bench fridges in a position to provide the best results
  2. Monthly rotation: Swap in fresh filters on a monthly basis.
  3. That’s it: No power, no drains, no controller changes.

Sizing guide (quick start):

  • Small cabinet (under-bench / single door) → 1 unit
  • Medium cabinet (2–3 doors) → 2 units
  • Walk-in cool room → number of units set by room volume and traffic; we’ll size it for you.
Supermarket fridge

Safety & compliance

  • Food-safe and non-toxic mineral filter.
  • Fragrance-free (no masking smells).
  • HACCP-friendly: fits within standard kitchen and catering procedures.
  • No electrical components in the cold space.

What results can you expect?

  • Fresher presentation: Produce holds colour and texture; meat and seafood keep the case looking clean and appetising.
  • Less day-to-day waste: Slower ripening and drier surfaces reduce trim loss and bin weight.
  • Energy support: With less moisture to pull and steadier conditions, compressors cycle more smoothly.

Actual results vary by product mix, cabinet type, and traffic. That’s why we offer a 30-day free trial—see it on your own site.

Before & after (what staff usually notice)

  • Cool rooms smell cleaner and feel less “wet”.
  • Doors and case fronts fog less; visibility improves.
  • Less drip/purge in meat and seafood trays.
  • Herbs and soft leaves hold longer between deliveries.

Monthly rotation & recycling

  • We run a simple monthly swap program—fresh units in, used units out.
  • Filters are recyclable; we handle collection and processing.

Frequently asked questions

Does it change my temperature set-points?
No. Filters act on the air quality and moisture load, not your controller. You keep your existing set-points.

Will it affect flavours or emit a scent?
No. The filter is fragrance-free and adsorbs odours rather than masking them.

How many units do I need?
It depends on cabinet size, airflow, and door traffic. We size it for you during the trial.

What maintenance is required?
Just the monthly rotation (swap the unit). No washing, charging, or power.

Is it safe around open food?
Yes—media is non-toxic and food-safe when used as directed.
